Wow, do you see how quickly things can change. I was so happy when I posted a little while ago, and now I am feeling sad. My niece and I started this WLS journey a few months apart, to be honest it is because of her wanting the surgery that I started looking into it and decided that it was the best thing for me. Well I called her excited telling her about Monday and me signing the consent and now she is talking about she might not have it.

Issues has come up along the way for her, she has gall stones, something may be wrong with her kidneys(they have to test it again) and she have a low B1 level. So now she is saying if she doesn't have surgery this year she isn't going to have it. I feel as if my ballon has been deflated and tried to give her a pep talk and she said that she doesn't want to hear it.

I feel so guilty that everything is going smoothly for me and not for her, I don't want her to be mad at me, especially since it is sorta because of her that I decided to do this. I don't know what to do, is it wrong that I am still excited for me? I am just confused right now, any advice will truly be appreciated.

(((((((((Hugs)))))))))))) I am sure once she sees the results you will have with your journey it will prompt her to go ahead and complete this journey. Right now she's discouraged by all the other medical stuff and no doubt feeling scared. You will be showing her by example how great the surgery is. Do not feel guilty. It's her decsion as it was your decsion to go for the surgery as well.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. For whatever reason, your niece may not be able to have this surgery now but you can. Maybe you are supposed to have it now so you can help guide her through the process when she does get to have it. God works in mysterious ways.

It is a shame that she has some medical issues that will need to be cleared up before she is able to do surgery, but without her looking into the surgery she may never have gotten the information about her medical needs. That is a good thing I would think. You may feel bad that she is in this situation of course, but you need to still take care of you. You would want her to do the same. I would just share your joy with someone else for a while or with us so that she does not get upset. How old is she?? She most likely has time to still do the surgery and getting her b up will not be too hard. The test might be wrong with her kidneys. However, you need to go ahead as planned and be supportive of her as well. It is not your fault that she has some medical issues. It is obvious that she needs to do something about the weight so that she will not continue to have medical issues, but now is most likely not the time to be discussing that. She has other concerns. Take care and be well. Keep going forward!!! Best of luck with all and I hope your niece gets better soon.

I believe in everything happens for a reason.
You have to do what's right for you.
You can be sensitive to her feelings but on the same token she should be sensitive to yours as well.
It is a tough situation but you two will figure this out together.
Keep taking care of you! Your very important. Support her in her decisions whatever they maybe.

I have to agree with everyone else. Things happen to us each individually for reasons that we might not understand. Now we can take these as set back or we can take them as a lesson and move forward.

I understand your concern for your niece and would feel the same way. However i truly believe that she would want you to move on and help make you a better person. It doesn't change your relationship with her, it just changes the fact that your doing this without her.

Keep in mind that she didn't force you to look into this procedure it was by chance in supporting her that you came to the decision that you would like to have this done as well. With that being said, continue your process and keep us posted, we can all pray for her and lift her up for healing.

We are all here for you Chocolate your an amazing lady with an outstanding future ahead. Remember we are all here for you as well.

Sorry your niece has some issues to resolve, but they shouldn't keep her from having the surgery eventually. As others have said it is good that the issues were found before she was in major trouble. She may just need time to adjust to her situation. She may come around when she sees your success. You aren't alone -- we are all here to support you.
