Does anyone do yoga? I walk every day but I wanted to do something else besides just walk. I know that yoga (yin) isn't a big calorie burner but it is good for stretching muscles and helping your joints all of which I could use. i am going to my first class tomorrow night, kind of excited. I would never do it before because I had a hard time getting up from the floor.

Love yoga! Don't let the speed it's done or the seemingly simple postures trick you into thinking it's "mild excersise". You will find muscles you never knew existed. Bear in mind achieving the asana (posture) is NOT the goal. The beauty of yoga is in the release. Hope you love it! Remember to work WITH your body, do not command it!

I have a yoga dvd for beginners. its about an hour and I really like it more then my walking dvd. I alternate though. Yoga is actually a good workout.

I know lots of folks who love yoga... I've only done it a few times. My personal favorite is Pilates. Affter i go for awhile i alwways feel soooo strong! And it helps with my posture! But i imagine yoga would do that too :) Have fun!

I've decided to try to branch out from my water exercise (four times a week) and walking too. I recently went through the schedules for two Y's that are nearby and mapped out all the Zumba, Yoga and Pilates.

I can't wait to try them to give me a little variety workout wise and more flexibility schedule wise.

I'll be interested to hear what you think!

There is a Yoga program DVD that you can buy called Just My Size. The lady that teaches it is great, and its nice cause when your big its hard to do some of the postures that normal yoga does...Anyway I love yoga, as its calming. My PCP suggested doing a heavy workout then the next day do Yoga, just to try and mix it up and give the muscles a good stretch...Best Wishes
