Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
It usually goes something like this...
Emotional self: "I feel fat!"
Rational mind: "Hey, you are wearing size ___ and fat people don't wear size ___...so cut it out!!! Remember what you promised yourself when you weighed 300 lbs?? You said you'd stop beating yourself up about weight if you could ever get under 200 lbs. Well, you weigh well under that now, so keep your promise and be kind to yourself. You are healthy and can move. Stop nit-picking!! Love yourself! You've done good!!"
I don't have to have the conversations as often as I used to, but they still happen. It takes time to accept the new us.
