Everything will be fine and your son will be fine. Like you said, you made arrangements for his well being. And most of all remember that FEAR = False~Evidence~Appearing~Real.... Go get him and tell us when you get back and join everyone on the losers bench!

I was scared about being away trim my 5 kids too (nobody can care fir them like mommy) mine are 9-7-5-4-2 yrs old and I have NEVER spent a whole night away from them all at one time. Guess what? They all did really well and had so much fun doing something new :) I was ok in the hospital without them and they were excited to see me once I was home :) You will do great! Time goes by fast in the hospital too with all the sleeping and walking. You'll see, there are tons of prayers and positivity flying your way, just sit back and enjoy the ride :)

I understand totally your apprehension.. try to think of it doing this for your sons beneft as well. Having a mother that can crawl in the floor and chase him thru a public park will far outweigh the three days in the hospital. One way to get to that point fast is by walking.. I was out of surgery at noon and by 4 AM was walking the halls of my hospital.. That helped me more than anything.. walk, walk, walk..

As for the sleeplessness.. I was up for 72 hours before my surgery. I sat and wrote letters, organized momentos, etc.. "just in case". Sad but true. However I am here I survived and three weeks out I have had a couple of times of regret and wonder what the heck I have done but for the most part am happy with the progress made. I understand where you are coming from. You have a lot on your plate. We all had the same fears. "Will i be the exception? What if it doesn't work?" We have been so disappointed with our weight loss in the past that we think this will be just another failure. We all got scared right before too. "What if something goes wrong and I don't make it? I am such a selfish person. Who will take care of my kids? I've got to write a will"......all of those things. We ALL felt it It is so normal. This surgery takes only about 30 to 45 mins to complete. (No longer considered major surgery). After the surgery, you will have buyers remorse, especially those first days in the hospital and the first week home. IT IS NORMAL. You will do fine. You have to take time for YOU. We are always here for you, we will be praying for your speedy recovery AND we'll save you a seat on the losers bench.

All is going to be fine. Think happy thoughts like soon you'll be on the losers bench and bragging about all your weight loss.

Focus on yourself - and remember in the long run what you're doing is best for your son. Short term - he will be fine. Long term - you will have a better chance of being a great mom to see him grow up and turn into the person you are helping him to be.

Congratulations on your decision - I promise you the surgery is not as bad as you think. For me it was the easiest part of the whole life change.

It's ok to be nervous. Your little one will be fine and enjoy the attention and loving. You've done all your preparation, research and work getting ready. Leave it in God's hands--he guides the hands of your surgeon and caregivers and won't let you down. Peace.
