Hi Sweetie! I'm sorry you are feeling down. It is the pits to feel bad while everyone around you is making merry! I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. You made a great decision and this too will pass. Pretty soon you will be the one celebrating life and every thing that is good about the world. Next Christmas you will be so much healthier and happier that you won't even remember that you were so down right now. Please try to smile and be patient. I know from experience that a lot of people do not know how to be supportive and may need a little advice from you on what you need from them. I know you don't expect your family and friends to just let the holiday pass them by for you, but at the same time maybe they could bring some of that cheer to you....at least until you are able to join them. Hang in there, you are on the road to pure joy and happiness, that road just has a few bumps to cross, but NO road blocks!

Try to do something nice for yourself and remember that next year at Christmas you will be feeling so great and finding the best stuff to wear!! HI Nai, I had a lap band 5 weeks ago. I was only 10 days out for Thanksgiving. While the rest of the family had their fill of the wonderful food I cooked, I enjoyed a baby sized meal with a bit of everything.

I often remind myself that eating is such a small part of our day that it isnt something to dwell on. Make good choices and as the weight comes off you will be motovated to keep going even more!

Go to a movie, go for a walk with a friend who understands, plan a game night with some supportive friends, get a pedicure...

Merry Christmas! I am 4 days out from GBS surgery, so on Chrsitmas, I will still be on pure liquids. So as my family will sit around and eat their wonderful Chrsitmas dinner, I will be sipping on a protien shake. I can't even taste the mashed potatoes or stuffing. At least you will be able to taste a few things. I too am feeling a little down about the whole thing. Chrsitmas Day is also my birthday, and my sister always makes me a fabulous birthday treat, which of course she can't this year (or ever again). She asked me what I wanted for my birthday present and I told her 'the weightloss cookbook for Dummies" after weight loss surgery. Not quite the double chocolate raspberry filling cake she made me last year, but next year, I will be able to sit down and taste the dinner, get full with a cup amount of food, and I will feel fabulous! So it is worth it. Sweetheart, this is the begining of a new and healthy life. We will have times that we feel left out, or alone, but that is what this group is for.

I can relate to this. I am visiting my daughters and family in California for Xmas and so use to doing most of the cookig and this year feel left out. It is my first Xmas since surgery 9/12/11. Do something special for yourself and remember that your journey to sucess is right around the corner.
