Hi guys, I need some advice! Lots of little issues, RNY and BSO done two weeks ago.(bilateral ovarian cyst, ovaries and fallopian tubes all removed) had issues with the med that they put steri strips on with. It burned my skin bad! Then the dr was worried about infection so he started me on an antibiotic which I now know I am allergic to. Started another antibiotic which also started yeast and thrush. I am doing better with all of the above, but I can't take this back pain. I did have severe back pain -- that is how I found out about the cyst. This is not the same. It is on the same side--- I just can't decide if it aches because I have poor posture related to the incision and guarding, or if it is from the surgery tugging and pulling. Help! Is this normal?

It is pretty likely that they filled your abdomin with gas for the surgery...if they did this it is likely the gas causing the pain. If the pain in intense I would highly recommend contacting your doctor for advice. Best of luck...hope you feel better soon!

The gas really sucks... AND i found myself sitting differently than I usually do alot, especially when driving within that first six weeks. For the purpose of not slouching and hurting my incisions. You could have a combo or one of those. With all you have been through and only a couple weeks ago i'm sure the dr wouldnt mind if you needed your pain meds still. Keep yourself comfortable while your body is healing, and remember to get all the protein and vitamins you need so that your body has all the necessary tools to heal itself you have been through hell. *hugs*

Gas X strips that melt or the chewables, WALK as much as possible, I know you may not want to, but it is so important. If it's pain that continues, call your doctor, but chances are it's just gas. good luck....

If you had a catheter during your surgery you can get bladder or urinary tract infection from them. Not everyone gets one, but one sign of it is back ache, could just be gas, but could also be that. They can easily check for it so if they have not checked for it, may want to mentin it. Good Luck! I am scheduled for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Thurs 9-8-11, my 19 year old daughter and my hubby had this surgery done in May 2011. My daughter got married & moved to Australia in June where she is going to go to college to be a teacher. She has lost 120 lbs & has 100-130 more to go, not sure what her goal weight is as her goal was to become healthy. She got a blader infection, probably from catheter, she had back ache fever and ended up in ER they thought it could possibly be a leak due to symptoms, but just bladder infect. My hubby has lost 90 lbs. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

I hope it is gas! The bladder infection thing was a possibility but am one more day away from finishing antibiotic. My back hurts more than anything. As this is a long weekend, I will call the dr on tues if it's not any better. I am a stomach sleeper and did that two nights ago. I know the gas was worse after that. Back sleeping for awhile. Can we take gas x?
