This is the first post although I have been reading others posts for over a year! My journey started 1.5 years ago when I attended an orientation about Gastric Bypass at a local hospital. I came out of it and sat in my car crying that I had reached this point. I had tried diets, never being able to stick to them and I knew I had to do something because my diabetes was getting out of control. One of my problems is I don't see myself as fat or over weight. I think I have pretty good self acceptance and if it weren't for the diabetes, I probably would be doing anything about it.
Anyway, I met with a doctor last November and started to do all the pre-requisites and have completed all but the pych one. The last thing I did was an endoscopy and they found something called a carcinoid. This required another surgical endoscopy where they cut out the lesion and burned what wouldn't cut out. Now I have a follow up endoscopy to make sure nothing is left. This takes place in December.
SO now I have to wait and discuss if I can even have surgery. But I know I have changed my mind from having bypass to sleeve. So I would love to hear from any sleevers out there and your experience AND from those who had stomach lesions removed before they had surgery. Thanks for your replies! Janet

How much weight do you need to lose? Even if you cannot have the surgery, the process found the carcinoid. That would be worth going through the process alone. I hope that has a wonderful outcome and you get to have the surgery to resolve your diabetes. Good Luck!!
chosing the right surgery is a very personal decision. I am thrilled with what it did for me.
