Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I was so excited for half a year before that I would have been lost without my notes too. I still go back and read them once in a while. It's easy to forget the rules after 5 years, and it shines a light on things I've let slip back in.
It isn't just the video blogs. In my experience, myself and my many friends with WLS, those of us that follow the program use our new tool to succeed and get healthy. Those that don't, won't. I have almost half of my friends that ate their way back from WLS loss to obese again.
Planning, learning, tracking..... all good. You'll do fine.
Thank you for the encouragement.
What did you actually bring to the hospital with you?

I was able to go home the day after surgery. I'm glad I didn't overpack. Less to do when I got home!
Some suggestions for snacks that you might want to bring on the orientation day: WATER, string cheese, jerky, hard boiled eggs. The high protein snacks will keep you feeling fullMake sure your house and kitchen are "post surgery" ready. Clean sheets so you can slip right into a nice cool inviting bed when you get home. Kitchen stocked with protein drinks, water and the things you need to eat or drink for the first few weeks, vitamins measured out for each day. Whatever your doc and nutritionist recommend....have it ready. For me, camomile tea was a soothing, comfort that was a must have in my pantry. Hopefully, you have someone at home to help you out or check in with you to see if you need anything. Family and friend support is the best preparation!
So excited for you! You will be in and out in no time and probably happy that you made this decision, even if you do experience a little pain the first few days. It is sooooo worth it.
You are going to do great. Good luck on your journey!
