It was about a month or so.... It will not be the same if you were a social drinker before. One or 2 is all you will handle and wine will hit you hard!

My surgeon requested that I wait a year, but later said that 6-9 months was preferable if I couldn't wait a year. I wasn't much more than an occasional drinker to begin with, but I could hold my alcohol. LOL So I'm interested to see how I do when I start trying a drink again (I'm only a little over 2 months out right now).

I waited about 7 months. Boy am I a cheap drunk now! One glass of wine and I'm gone. Seem to handle beer better but really can't drink much. Never drink unless I am at home in case I have to go to bed!!

Will admit this has kinda been a bummer but everyone loves their new designated driver! LOL I've worked really hard not to do beer cause of the carbonation and wine cause of the sugar. On a couple of occasions I've sipped tequila...(other than rum it is the only liquor I like the taste of and rum is sugar). Maybe a year out and after much more weight loss I will be willing to start adding in wine and increasing the amount of sugar I can tolerate....just not willing to raise that bar just yet.

I love vodka and tequilla and wine, But I agree everyone loves me as the desginated driver as well. Besides the reality is that Alcohol is addictive and it is very easily traded out from food to alcohol. So be careful and mindful. The other reality is that you become a cheap drunk and it passes rather wuickly. I would say I was about 9 months out. I was celebrating 137 pounds lost and earning my master's degree.

All things in moderation, but the drinks you probably loved was ones with carbonation. So it really does limit what kind of drinks to have.

I want a margaritta lol. We are going camping at the end of the month and I would love to just sip on one. I am really not a drinker either, but love a margaritta now and then. I guess I will have to try and take it slow and see what happens.

Well, i have yet to have the surgery, still going through the motions, BUT my good friend who has gone through it had surgery 7 months ago and she occasionally will have a margarita, she has turned me onto the skinny girl margarita's, they are yummy and way less calories than other mixed drinks. Give em a try, but yes, she does say its hits her harder and faster, although effects were off faster too.. :)

Also keep in mind, that since you no longer have a stomach, this stuff is dumping right into you liver, so drink wisely ans cautiously.
