I don't know what to do here and I thought if you all gave me your opinion it would help me out. This group has helped me so much already.
My daughter that lives with me is expecting any day. We thought she would have had the baby by now. My surgery is April 19th. I really wanted to be able to help her for a few weeks and then she would be well enough to help me. Now, with her still baking, I don't know what to do. My pre-op is next Friday. I am still not losing the weight they wanted me to. I don't know if I should reschedule or what. My daycare parents have already put in for that week off. I have someone scheduled to come and help me the next 2 weeks.
How much pain have you all experienced after the surgery? Can you all tell me what you would do. If I have to reschedule I will, I am just wondering how I will be when I get home. I know it won't be easy, but could I take care of myself? Give me a 1 to 10 on the pain lol. Thanks, I know I am a pain.

Just my opinion...don't reschedule. True, there is a lot going on right now, but sounds like your plans are already in place, and putting it off probably won't make your life any less hectic.

Her baby will come soon, and you'll still have time to enjoy some time before your surgery.

As far as pain...I guess it depends. I didn't really have any, and was on no pain medicine after the first day in the hospital. Tired, yes. Pain, no.

Don't put it off, there is always something going on in life and it will never be the perfect time. Now is as good a time as any, the sooner you get it done the sooner you will be running after your grandchild. It also sounds like you have everything planned out already. Good luck!

I agree with the others. I don't think that you should put it off. Do your best and go forward with the date. Your daughter will be just fine and you will still be able to help her with the most important stuff like advice, reassurance, etc. You need to do this so that you can help physically by the time that baby is ready to runa round and play. Do this for YOU and you will won't regret it.

Do it now. You will be fine. I came home after 1 night and never had any help. I have a 3 and 5 year old and my husband had to work. I did it all myself., It was hard, but doable,

I agree with everyone, don't put it off - you never know what might happen if you do. I was a little different, I had quite a bit of pain, but nothing the meds they sent me home with couldn't handle. I was on those for about four days. I didn't need them at all after that. I must tell you though, that I am also a unique case. My surgery lasted five hours even though it was laparoscopic (supposed to be 2). They told me they had to over manipulate my insides, whatever that means.

I've heard a lot of people on here say they've recovered by themselves and it sounds like if there was something extreme you needed help with, your daughter could probably still help you.

Don't reschedule, I've been looking into this surgery for over 10yrs, now, and i too am looking at a pre-op appointment on 4/6 and a surgery date of 4/12, some insight, my daughter lives with us and has a 6month old son and she;s pregnant again due in August, and we just got a new puppy Cane Corso, he's going to get to about 130 - 150#'s i'm in the middle of obedience training right now, and I'm going to have to postpone the training and my daughter is going to be taking care of her son and pregnancy for a while until I'm back on my feet. not an easy choice but i figure the surgery is going to help me to be around and help for a longer time. So 6-8wks of time to take care of me is not a lot to ask. you should continue to take care of you for the future.

YOU NEED TO DO IT NOW..........I was lucky that a friend stayed and took care of me, however, I didn't plan on that and if she hadn't been there I would have been fine......I might have done even better becasue I would have had to do more things for myself............women have been having babies from the beginning of time and somehow managed to care for them without help - in many cases.........AND when I had my baby I had a friend stay with me and what I enjoyed most was just having someone to talk to..........JUST DO IT.........I had infection and rash and all sorts of things and I was fine and was on my own ALOT after the first week.... if you put it off, it will be hard to get back on track.. don't deny yourself the opportunity to gain health as quickly as possible..

I have to agree with everyone else. Don't put this off! You are important, You Need this done! Pain.....well everyone is different and our bodies heal differently. You will enjoy your grandbaby more knowing you are taking care of yourself to be able to get out and play with your grandchild when he or she is older.

I would not reschedule.....focus on YOU. I had a Lap, and the pain was pretty bad, and I took 6 weeks off of work.

This is one of the most important things that you will ever do for yourself!!!!

I didn't have a great deal of pain afterwards and bounced back quickly...and I am 50! I agree with all the others...there will always be a reason NOT to do it. But you will be so thankful you did it. Best wishes.

Go for it! Get it over with! You won't regret it.

My pain was incredibly minimal - nothing Tylenol couldn't fix. I was able to do everything for myself. I still had people on standby just in case, but there was never a day where I was bedridden and couldn't get myself up. I was shocked at how minimal the pain was. I'd say (for me) it was like a 2 out of 10. More internal discomfort than pain.

I don't think you should reschedule. All you planns have been made.....keep your date. As far as pain I was up and walking around an hour after they got me to my room. The only thing that was bothersome was the gas that they use to blow up your stomack. It didn't hurt but it was just uncomfortable. Congrats on the new baby...hope all goes well. I also know all will go well with you! Best of luck
