I have so many questions. This group is so great. I am so glad my friend told me about it. I am having my surgery on April 19th. I am so scared and excited at the same time. I love the positive things I hear of course and the negative scare the crap out of me. I think there are so many positive than negative though. I have my last 2 appointments in the next week. I have to lose my 13 pounds and then I will be good.
I am concerned because I take several medications. I didn't ask my doctor about that and I need to at my next visit. I take prestique and others. If I don't take that med, my head feels like I have vertigo. I am wondering what they will do about that being as after surgery I can't have anything in there? Anybody?

Welcome to the group.

I haven't take those particular meds. But this I know: we may not absorb meds post-surgery in the same way that we do pre-surgery. For that reason, you'll need to discuss them with your medical team. They may need to change the dosage or the delivery method to make sure your body is able to get what it needs.

I have a neuro muscular disease and they gave me my meds at the hospital. Hard to believe you'll get them down, but you will.

Welcome to the group - you will love it here. I don't know about the meds - if you don't get enough responses, check out the archives for your medications by name or start a thread with the names in the header.

Like everyone else, I think it's essential to have this discussion with your doc prior to surgery.

I was on Prestique also... mine was time released.. it can NOT be crushed or broken in pieces. so you need to get it CHANGED NOW... so you can adjust before the surgery. .there is plenty to adjust to after surgery with your change of diet. They changed mine to something that could be crushed.. but I was to take it 4 times a day.. I decided to wing it for the 6 weeks without it. Been almost 3 months without it. so I guess maybe my depression was from worrying about this surgery and my weight.. cos I am off of it now... but that isn't the best idea for most people. I feel very blessed to be able to come off of it.. but if you need this med you need to make sure your Dr gets it changed soon.. good luck.

It sounds like you are doing a great job getting as prepared as possible before your surgery...that tells me you are going to be very successful afterwards!

I agree-definately have your Dr address your post op med concerns.
I was given my usual meds the next morning and haven't had any trouble getting them down-I was amazed at that.
