Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. it's math, energy in(food) energy out (exercise/movement). Period. So if that's the equation and we're not reducing, than you're simply bucking water weight.
Just keep going!
Your expectations for weight-loss are WAY TOO unrealistic. Reality check!
Weight-loss totally depends on your eating, water in-take, where you are in your WLS journey.
Even non-obese people plateau with exercise and weight-loss.
If you just started a new working out routine your body goes into "lock-down mode" to hang onto calories and water.
A good personal trainer once told me to do interval training to fake your body out. Hard one day -- easier the next. It confuses the muscles and the body doesn't resist the workout.
Plus it takes at least 2 weeks of a new routine to see results (inches, clothes fitting better) and it is not always pounds coming off.
I know it is frustrating but keep at it.
Switch up the workout routine....I swear by the interval training....top athletes do it to increase muscle mass.
I took up karate during a really bad plateau when I stalled around 175. I trained in a dojo for 2 hours 2x a week plus my other workouts and I lost 40 lbs in about 3 months.
Seriously ride it out....
Focus on working out and eating healthy. Make sure you are getting enough calories is as well as protein as our body can stall if we a not providing it with the right amount of fuel.
I understand your frustration b/c there are times where I feel I busted my hump and lose like 0.4lbs or just a pound.
The last few weeks have been crazy during my hospital stay I lost -6lbs, supposedly last week I gained, and then this past weekend I lost -3lbs.
It's weird how all this works but don't get fixated on the numbers b/c at the end of the day this is about you and your health. There's no price tag or enough numbers on this world that can be assigned to our health.
Love ya girlie.
I got on the scale today and I finally lost another pound. Patience is not my vertue but I'll drive myself crazy without it.
We can do this! Keep up the good work!
First relax! Chillax and be easy on you and your body. This is the rest of your life, not war. lol
What are your calories and percentage of carbs and fats?
What are you callng plateaus? 4days is barely an adjustment...
sometimes 2 weeks pass and nothing and then i lose and then the next week nothing....from the middle of dec to the middle of jan...i only lost 4 pounds...i usually eat 700-1200 calories a day...and when i work out i am burning atleast 1200 calories from cardio and weights...i am at the gym atleast 2hrs each day I go....
