I just found out my surgery is authorized and is scheduled for Feb 16, 2015. I've been on a year long journey attending nutrition classes, going to medical appointments, having various tests performed, and working to lose the weight the doctor requires before surgery. It is all becoming very real very fast. I think I have read every book in the county library about gastric bypass and weight loss surgery, but I felt I needed more current and more ongoing information and support. I'm glad I found this site. I will post my experiences and questions as things progress. Thanks to all for the information you have already posted here. It has been helpful. :)

Congratulation on making such a life changing decision. You will be amazed how great you feel and how much more energy you will have once the weight comes off. Just make sure to do everything that your doctors and nutritionist tells you to do and you will come through this with bells on. I have no regrets at all over having this surgery. My family was so against it but now that they have seen the improvement in my life style they are so happy that I had it done.

I will be anxious to hear about your journey.

Welcome to the group. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I don't see people often these days who's journeys are as long any more. Mine back in 09-10 was a year as well. I remember felt like I would never get to my surgery. The night before My mother and friend and I were in a hotel because my center was so far from home......I was a bundle of excited mixed nutty nerves........so remember to breath and walk as soon as they let you. lol
