Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Do you think those numbers fit your Bariatric eating plan?
Stress eating will only get worse if the underlying issues are not addressed. Stress itself will compound the physical issues because of the stress hormones. I highly recommend finding a professional who can help you find out why you have the need to eat unhealthy food instead of seeking healthy ways to work through what is stressing you. As the VP of a company, I'm sure you know the importance of having a good team. We all have to build our own support teams as individuals, and a good counselor is a must. What healthy techniques do you use to work through the stress?
Getting our heads in the game is critical for our success. Once our heads are on straight, then we can consciously make healthier food choices. I'm not sure about your program, but my program focuses on protein first, water, vegetables, legumes, seeds, nuts, dairy, and reasonable amounts of fruits. 60-90 grams protein, 64 oz water minimum, low carbs. Instead of thinking about what to cut out, try thinking about adding back in. Focus on adding healthy foods back into your eating choices. When we are full from eating healthy foods, well hydrated from getting our water in, and regularly doing our mental/emotional work, we change our focus. What is your healthy focus?
Surgery is just a tool, it doesn't fix our heads, our hearts, our choices. And if we don't get a grip on fixing our heads, hearts and choices, we are fully capable of eating our way back to where we started.
Keep on sharing here, but get the help you need to get back on track for the healthier you, the reason you went through all this. You're worth it, and when you make your health the priority, it will happen.
I suggest that you begin what Julia Cameron calls Morning Pages.
Get a notebook and put it by your bed with a pen. When you waken in the morning, before you do ANYTHING, start to write down whatever is in your head. No censoring yourself. Just write down whatever is running through your head until you have filled three pages (8x11" pages).
When you do this consistently for a week or so (I recommend it as a daily --as in forever from now on habit), you will begin to see what is really in your heart and head.
You'll see clearly what is bothering you, what you really want, what you dream of.
Once you have that insight into yourself, you next step is to start to fix your life. Take action toward your dreams, change bad relationships or eliminate them,, etc.
It is beyond beneficial to do this. It is transformative.
You have already transformed your body. It is entirely possible that you are now experiencing emotions that you last felt the last time you weighed 149 lbs. It's cellular memory, and often it is memories of things buried deep. OR, it could be your body is remembering a emotions that no longer have any validity and that you can easily release them once you see what is going on.
You're at an important point in your journey--it's the place where you begin to go after the life that you really want. The life that you previously denied.
So empower yourself by accepting and believing in yourself. You can do this. You have a right to do it. So go for it. :)
