Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
You also should be aware that there is a risk of addiction if you have not dealt with any food addictions. (A fair number of people develop other addictions after GBS if they had food addictions prior to surgery and have not conquered that problem.)
If you don't dump and addiction isn't a problem, you'll find that you get drunk on one glass of wine. The alcohol, in by passing your small intestine, seems to get into the blood stream really fast. So be careful.
Whatever you decide, i wish both you and your brother a happy day.
Should you? No.
Give him a better present and be his designated driver.

I did my surgery 10 years ago. I was never a person that suffered any kind of addiction. I lost almost 100 lb and I was happy. I started to realize that I was becoming addicted to alcohol. I wish I was warned this could happen. I believe a lot of people don't realize how serious this surgery is. How it changes how our body reacts with what we ingest into our body. We need to learn to be careful and get used to our new body and life. I wish u luck and continue going to your AA meetings to help you. It has helped me. I believe that they are more of us out with this issue after the bypass. "
