Hi all, i just wanted to give you all a heads up as to what has been going on with me. Four weeks ago i started to feel numbness in my legs and adomen i posted my concern and was told to check with my doctor just in case. I callled the dr and went in that same day to see him. He put me on potassium pills thinking it was a deficiency. After one week of use i saw no changes so i called the dr again. I was then told i would need to take a more drastic measure to get nutrients back into my body because i was not able to absorb correctly. After a week of my insurance dragging their feet i started to have burning sensations in my feet and my legs were so weak i could hardly walk five feet away to the restroom.I ended up in the hospital where they inserted a picc line (a more permanent I.V line) and started me on TPN which is a liquid form of all the calories and protein and vitamins needed. My surgeon said i developed nuropathy on the hands and feet which is a rare occurance only 1 in 600 patients get. I was very depressed for a couple weeks because no one could tell me just how long until i could walk again (if ever) but through all this i never regretted getting surgery. I had to remind myself being fat could have also caused problems such as diabetes which often results in amputee. I have now been on treatment of TPN for three weeks 12 hours a day and i am happy to announce i am getting better...... i can feel my legs again and i am walking 100 times better.

If anyone experiences any numbness please see your dr right away because the quicker you treat it the quicker the recovery.
