100 lbs gone in 6 months, exceeded my goal!
SUZY150
6 months out yesterday and I hit my 100 pound weight loss today! I started this journey and for sure I was scared shit-less! But I had lost 50-60 pounds many times and slowing gained it back and more, many times. I knew I needed to do something drastic. I decided to check out WLS and sitting here today, and so grateful that I had the courage. At one point, my nutritionist was so mean; she told me I was in denial. She was chubby (ok, fat) herself. And, so you all can laugh so hard you pee, I ran into her at a restaurant, and she said, ok, so it looks like things are working for you, when my other friends would faint when they saw me. She was now in denial. At the restaurant, I told my husband that I couldnt sip my water for fear the Nutrition Nazi would be spying, and he said, as a matter of fact she is sitting right behind you. I sunk in my chair, until he said she just finished her third coke, a blooming onion, French fries and a steak, and had barely touched her salad. God has a way of giving Karma to those who dont support us. So, I am here today to thank all of you DS friends for all your great support. You are the reason I decided to have the surgery, because I saw through your postings that there was life after RNY surgery, that life does come back slowly, and that food wasnt the center of my universe. Now, for the first two months post op, I was still scared, and worried, but now 6 months later, I feel like a total, regular human again. Food is wonderful, and I can tolerate many things I could not tolerate after surgery. Gone forever is my love of bread, pasta and potatoes. They make me sick. Back again is my love for fruit, vegetables, soups and healthy food. I love cooked sushi and I can handle about a cup of Thai noodles. Man, this is the life. Freedom, from the demon of food. Now I look into my closet with joy, and I am finding stretch mark cream to tighten up my sagging neck. I wish you all success on your journey, and hope you realize that the key to success is 60 grams of protein a day, 64 oz. of water each day, and then sensible eating, which makes your pouch feel great anyway. I will be posting my 100 pound lost photo soon, so you too can check out my journey. Just some p.s. notes that I have added that have given me the tools for success. Liquid Isopure 100% whey protein isolate, 40 grams of protein, favorite flavors, Grape Ice, Orange and fruit punch. Protein Plus RTD 51 ready to drink, favorite flavors peanut butter , chocolate, Muscle milk lite, chocolate, 35 grams of protein. I like ready to drink protein because it is not foamy, and there are no lumps. Water, water and more water. Decaf herb tea, favorite Tazo passion fruit and decaf Chai. Almonds, 25 only. Fruit, fruit and more fruit, strawberries, melons, pineapple, berries. Roasted veges, fresh veges, salads, soup, cole slaw, broccoli salad. If I eat meat, I use the two finger rule. It cannot be bigger than two of my fingers. I cut it up in tidbits and I chew it over thirty chews.
I hope my story helps you on your journey to weight loss and health. I am now off all my medications, blood pressure 2, cholesterol 1, anti depressant 35 mg, and I am keeping my cpap because I love it. I have dropped my cpap pressure from 12 to 9 now down to 6. My blood work looks fabulous, and now I just need to keep my good cholesterol up by eating more avocados, salmon, and or taking a fish oil tablet. Oh, my best advice ever, wear fat sucking underwear and tanks. Basically foundation garments like spanks, or similar ones available at target. My hanging fat does not look bad at all. Now if I can just get some tubular ones for my upper arms. I wear them when I sleep also, because my mom told me in the late 50s and early 60s you would have to wear them after having a baby to help your body go back to its normal size. This has helped a lot. I dont feel like my skin looks that bad, but I am taking the tummy tuck anyway.
OK, so now in closing, please dont criticize yourself, everyones journey is different, give yourself credit, and give yourself love and support. We are all in this together, and with our love and support of each other, we can do this. I only have 50 to go, and I should get there in October, and that will be a total of 11 months post op. Friend me is you want to. Love Susan
