Have you ever studied a sunflower seed? Look at the seed and know absolutely that the entire plant is contained therein. As "depressives" We need to be surprised and amazed (beyond) thought. Thought will try to explain the seed. Skip over that nonsense and witness magic. It is all around us, waiting to be realized, and these small revelations of truth, will eventually lead you to something new, and the depression will back off a bit.
That may also be why small children usually don't have the depression and hangups adults have. They can be depressed. But usually not clinical depression.
I think there's so much Wonderment in a child's eye and mind.
When we began to. Name phenomina, we created a mental disconnect from reality. There is no such thing as a, "tree". A tree is a mysterious living being that provides for its own, and our needs. But we don't have time to think and talk like that. So we convert mentally, a mystery into an object. (It is Life's mystery that drives us Neo.)
When we become abstacted mentally, through naming/labeling, we suffer from a "disconnect ". Our society reinforces the illusion that we are what we 'think' by celebrating intellectual pursuits, and awarding clever minds, and debassing our other qualities. Lucky for us we are not what we think~ever. Thinking has no higher mind, no intuition, and no regard for our suffering. One usually has to under go psychotherapy, in order to root out the blatant lies of depression. It is hiding the truth about you, which, if realized will lesson the pain.
My partner of 24 years passed on, in early spring. She did not seek herself, only temporary gratification. People ask me how she died. I always tell them that she died a long time ago. Abuse and lack of social response to trauma in kids~ robbed her of human life and natural dignity. She died from childhood abuse. Anything that leads you away from yourself, is not your friend.
