So the flooding finally let up but now my watermelons are too wet and splitting open. Never had that happen before. None of my crimson sweets survived. My dark skinned sugar babies and giant Jubilees are doing well except for the actual fruit.
I already lost all my zuchinni to squash bugs.
My peppers are ok but not abundant.
And the damned tobacco worms are so bad! You know those little green worms with horns that scream? I've been killing them every day. I spray organic insecticide soap in their mouth then pick them off and drown them in the rain barrel. They scream their fury and I'm like "go to hell monster!"
So anyway they been eating my tomatoes and the leaves of the plants. I've been fertilizing with blood meal, which attracted raccoons.
I finally planted sweet corn last week and it is up doing well. Was able to Preen around the corn Wednesday to prevent weeds.
This year is just a bad year for growing things other than in pots. Tho even some of my petunias and geraniums have died. And my poor pink hibiscus! It was so beautiful but it got too wet.
Idk about anyone else, but the grocery stores here have vegetable shortages. I'm going to can everything I get so we have food later on. These works make it hard tho, it's an every day battle. I think I may break down and get some liquid sevin. I went to my brother's house and his garden is beautiful. He said he fertilizes the heck out of it and uses liquid sevin because the organic stuff doesn't work.
I will be glad if I get any harvest at all, just for my own use. If I don't have enough to sell I guess that's ok.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I have never seen a tobacco worm and the way you described them, I don't want to however, I bet our tomato hornworm is worse! Luckily they didn't come this year and I only have to put up with the japanese beetle which I won't spray so I take them off by hand and kill them in soapy water but on some of the hotter days, it's a full time job just trying to stay ahead of them.
God Bless
I didn't see any on my tomatoes last year, but this year they are everywhere!
