I was in church on Sunday and the pastor's message seemed like it was meant just for me! He talked about different appetites we have, like need for approval, sex, food, need for recognition, etc. and how if we do not control these appetites then they will control us!
One thing that he asked everyone to do is to think about what is at stake if you let your "appetite" control you? Furthermore, he asked us to think about what's at stake for the present and the future! For me, my "appetite" is definitely for gambling...I stopped for about 6 months and then went back thinking I was cured. Nope, not cured!
So as I struggle with getting back on track I started to really hard about what is at stake both now and in the future and it's very eye opening!

I really could go on and on about what's at stake if I keep gambling and giving in to that "appetite."

- money (obvious)
- time (the more money I lose, the more time I lose by having to earn that back)
- reputation (I do not want to be known as a gambler, as gamblers cannot be trusted)
- integrity (I fear that the more I gamble, the more lies I will spin to explain my situation)
- future (I am turning 30 soon...I have always wanted a family and our own home...the more money I lose, the more I won't be able to achieve this goal)
- my parents' time (they are getting old, I want to earn some money so they can live a good life)

My life to was at stake and everything was falling apart while I was losing thousands each time I went! Its only been 1 month, however I feel soooooo much better - and just to think I'm caring MORE about my life and making it more meaningful....
