I only went to a couple. but they had us read the 12 steps out loud. you can goggle those before you go. then people talked about their recent slips, or how they are doing in recovery. the ones I went to were very informal and comfortable. others will talk about theirs. do some research about gambling recovery..........

my experience,

As people arrive some have volunteered to help set up the books, coffe and maybe even bring a snack.......
The group leader or officer calls the meeting to start........
A few people are asked or volunteer to read the GA traditions (which explains how we function as a group and society) and may also read one or some of the 12 steps (the principles for recovery for YOU) and then they can either go around or people volunteer to "share".
Whatever they like or feel.......
about their week
about their trials
about their triumphs
about their families or anything.....

sometimes if a new person is there they
will go around and tell their story of gambling
how it started and how it ended,........
and you will hear it all..............

the traditions maintain that we do not speak of what goes on in a meeting outside of the meeting itself and never mention a members name at anytime............
so we all can feel relatively safe.
You may choose to speak or just simply say I am new I would like to pass at this time.
No one NO ONE will ever judge you are say one word and you can speak when you are ready.

These meetings are a must to recovery.
Just go to one and see, hear, and feel the empathy, understanding and compassion and you will be hooked on a new feeling of living and recovering and want it for yourself.

I did not speak at my first meeting, and it wasn't a problem. Even now I do more listening. GA meetings have been a God send

The first and foremost thing to keep in mind is that it is, indeed, an anonymous meeting and newway pretty much nailed the format. Generally speaking, the "combo" book is read by each member from front to back (not a big book) to give the new member the history of the program, the steps of recovery and the basic components of what compulsive gambling is. At some point in the meeting someone will ask you to answer the 20 questions (the same ones I've been posting here), but the answers are a simple yes or no, no additional explanation is needed.
You'll get the chance to introduce yourself and the opportunity to share if you wish, but you don't have to share.
The bottom line is that they will say give it 90 days, if it doesn't work, gambling will, unfortunately, still be there to take you back, if it does work- that's when you really win.
