How many Casinos does a state need for pete sake! Arizona already has 19 and another is under construction and is close to where I live. I don't think the government really cares on how the gaming industry is CREATING problem gamblers. They look at it as more jobs and entertainment and more money. I'm not going to be one of their rats.I'm sorry you guys I just needed to vent.

We have 28 casinos here in the state of Washington and not one prominent organization here to help problem gamblers. It makes me angry when I hear of a new one being built too!

It is actually necessary for these casinos to create addicts to turn a profit. Recreational gamblers could never sustain 19 or 28 casinos in 1 state.

Outside of the jobs created during the construction the day to day jobs of the casino don't pay well at all. Not to mention they subject their employees to terrible working conditions, mainly second hand smoke.

I'm with you 100%. If our representatives in state government have been so irresponsible the only solution to their financial woes is to transform the citizens they were elected to represent into addicts, I don't think we need casinos, I think we need new representation!

I'm with you guys. What a waste of time, money, sanity, & life these dark hell holes become to those of us who are compulsive in nature. We really need to shout from the mountain tops to try to stop this insanity! This is only the beginning. In my state, (MN) you can get free treatment for gambling addiction but not for drug addiction, It's just a cover up for all the money the state makes on gambling. We are collateral damage. They don't consider all the revenue that is shifted away from other businesses. So few people seek help or ever stop gambling. My aunt Eddy died shorty after losing absolutely everything to her gambling. It's a terrible thing happening to so many seniors every day!

I agree with all of you too! What ticks me off here is that all the radio and tv channels are constantly putting it in our faces. All the radio stations are "broadcasting from the downstream casino resort studio". They are an 60 minutes away from where they are broadcasting from!! It just makes mad. Theres no way you can not think about it when its everywhere you turn. Lisa

For me, casinos, OTB and other gaming industries are businesses I chose not to support, there are also other types of businesses I chose not to support as well. Thank you for your post. I have read statistics that support your stand.... New casinos = more DV, more forclousures, more street crime, and the list goes on. Don't know what else to say right now, it is really sad that the destructive patterns that hit a community when a new Casino arrives are not coved by the press. Vote.
