felt like gambling today! Haven’t placed a bet in 7 months,instead of gambling which I know is a complete waste of time!! Even if I win I just gamble more and eventually lose it all and even more of own money!!So instead I post here and read other posts. Be strong people it can be over come,one day at a time

You overcame an urge to gamble, you won! Just thinking about the urge to gamble makes me think of the boogie man or a monster, it frightens me. The urge can come out of nowhere, a whisper or a scream. In the past I never identified the urge to gamble as a boogie man, or a monster, but today I do. I suppose I believed boogie men and monsters lived in children’s imaginations only, that I was an adult, and only had to fear, fear itself. Today I realize it’s healthy to fear my urge to gamble, and recognize it for the ugly lie that it is, then make a plan to overcome any future, frightening urges that may pass through my brain.

Every addict has urges and if they tell you different they are lieing. The only thing that matters is how you handle the urge. Knowing that it will pass,it has too, or no one could stay clean is our salvation. Gambling is like a thief in the night, wait until the sun rises and it will bring a new perspective on that urge. That is the beauty of it.....

I feel the same way.

Why would I go? For the money? What if I DID win money?
I know even if I left w/ loads -- I'd be itching to get back, and back, and go again and give it all back and then some more of my own.

The gig is up.
