I just wrote you a super long response and the server went down. I just wanted to tell you, I'm so sorry. But, the good news is, your are going to get to actually feel, rather than run and escape and mask your emotions in the casino. It's a true gift and part of our recovery journey. It may be hard, and you may feel the pain to the core, its okay, you will make it through this, just be good to yourself, and write, write as much as possible, journaling has always helped me through tough times. This is a tough thing to endure indeed. I am so sorry! BIG VIRTUAL HUG! I have a tough week of issues with family and friends and my temptations to go to the casino have been high. It has taken everything I have to put the thoughts out of my mind and stay on my path of recovery. I even drank heavily the other night with my husband and our friend after hearing about our friend drowning and I broke down and bought smokes instead of walking in a casino on my lunch break last week. These are bad habits but habits I can walk away from unlike gambling. They were a distraction that made me feel better at the time. Of course I had a hangover from hell Saturday ;-) since I dont drink all that much. Anyway lean on your friends and do whatever it takes to stay away from the horrible thing called gambling. I'm really glad you came and posted rather than gamble. this is a time to think of other things to do instead of that. I'm sorry about what you are going through. and for years, that was our choice of coping: running to a casino. now that we are choosing recovery, we have to come up with different, (and hopefully healthier) ways to cope.

posting is one. and like leapyear said: journaling. and I'm learning to let some tears fall if they really want to fall.

remember, feelings come, and feelings go. and I'm not making light of how you're feeling right now.

have another gamble-free day. you will be glad you did.

My heart goes out to you. I know that my failed relationships were the primary reason I let myself get so addicted to gambling.
