The little things

Or maybe not so little things. I ended up with a few hours of me time this weekend. It's a rare event and something I have actively planned on avoiding since getting into recovery. In the not so distant past this would mean that I was going to go and gamble. There was no maybe or thoughts of doing something else. It had to be done. Yesterday it didn't have to be done and I actually didn't want to go. I was able to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning. I slept in a little. I had a coffee while doing some people watching. I just enjoyed the morning. It seems like such a small thing but I know y'all know it's not.

I was able to enjoy a few hours of me time without my addiction ruining it! It felt really good.

Ll2life, I am so happy for you! Its a great feeling! And after all if you think about it, it made you feel good about yourself and in general; and feeling broke (in any meanning) after casino doesn't even worth trading it. Keep bringing peace to your life and loving yourself.

That's not little at all! That's called appreciating life, which is an AWESOME feeling that I never used to have when I gambled. Way to go!!!!

Congrats, live2. That is awesome, on more than one level. As for me, I partook of another one of my many addictions -Football! I hope you have many, many more mornings like the one you just described. You deserve it.

Thanks y'all. It is a big deal for me... just appreciating a few hours of me time. It was also nice that I had a little money on me to buy a coffee. I used to always have zero dollars in my wallet - I had a ton of 10 cent slot tickets instead.

That's the beauty and blessingof this addiction, and believe me when I say that I DO consider it a blessing. I have come to realize all of the wonderful things I used to enjoy before having gotten sucked into the dark abyss of gambling.

Little things, like you just mention...but big things, like...ah, I know the meaning of life as I once knew it to be.

Thank you for allowing me to reflect on all the wonders of this magnificent view.

lol lol lol yeah guess i can relate to the 10 cent tickets. never really walked out with any of them but a whole lot of change any way. glad ya had a good day and nothing to regret there.

Tagg, you are SO right! Like Joni says "You don't know what you've got till it's gone". And so many things "get gone" while we're consumed by this addiction. And when we get them back, well, they are so much sweeter, and so much more appreciated!

ll2live, you're starting what I thought of as "decompressing", savor it, revel in it, drink it in and recharge! And always keep in mind that going gambling sucks the joy out of everything else in your life, the joy you are just now starting to re-experience!
