It is exactly this denial that kept me repeating the same insane behavior, controlled, not controlled, back to treatment, until I feel I can control it, back out to gamble until it is out of control, back to treatment --->etc., etc.
I sent myself through that cycle several times before getting to G/A step 1:
I admitted I was powerless over gambling and my life had become unmanageable.
I have the longest stretch of gamble free days I have ever accomplished and it came with hard work and I had to do EVERYTHING I could to NOT gamble. I came to realize that this was serious business and I am fighting for my life.
I am not you and only you know if you can be a social gambler or you are a compulsive gambler. If controlled "responsible" gambling is not working for you, you might want to consider step 1.
There is so much more to life than gambling that I was missing out on while I was in the throes of my gambling addiction.

Ask yourself this. Why do you feel the need to gamble at all in the first place? What's stopping you from moving on from gambling for good? What is it about gambling that makes you feel you need to maintain it as a part of your life indefinitely?
