GAMBLE FREE life.
It is hard to take the first step,
the meetings are nothing to be afraid of,
they are just people like us,
usually some with a little clean time and a few with more clean time.
I most often find I fit about somewhere in the middle as far as the amount of clean time.
They will be real young and some quite old, but
basically they have the very same gruelling stories of pain and hurt and suffering and despair that I was feeling and they also had stories of compassion and understanding and insight that I couldn't wait to write down.
I was amazed at how they offered me a list of phone numbers of people to call if I was in a panic gambling mode, people I'd just met.
But then I realized, over time, that they felt like we do here. A very deep seated and sincere interest and need to help other gamblers in any way they could. They knew that they could help because they'd been there done that and were probably the only and last resort for a lot of people and so they came forward so readily and willingly to serve and help someone to cope. They know it can become even worse and they can only live with what they've done with their lives by helping others. It is almost a nonnegotiable and a mandatory inclination on a recovering addicts part that they "serve" others with their knowledge and compassion. It doesn't just help YOU it helps THEM as well.
Go to GA,
I went to NA and AA when I couldn't find one.
It too was a place of compassion and understanding of people who are under control and out of control and learning to come out of the darkness.
Please keep coming back here.
We did miss you.
