Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
What an awesome reflection, and inspiring post!!!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I concur with the idea that having this addiction has provided me many opportunities to go through periods of self reflection I might otherwise have traveled. In the beginning, I remember saying, "I just want to find the old me"....little did I realize that while searching, my "old me" was and still is in a state of positive transformation.
I never did come across the "old me", but to my surprise, what grew from that road less traveled (the rocky one) is a person much like you described...perfectly imperfect, kinder, more compassionate, and someone who is not hellbent and obsessed with the fact that I must
make everyone happy.
My new skin, while showing the signs of aging, feels vibrant, and fresh and new.........it just feels good.
Thanks again for your beautiful sentiments, my friend!

Wow...thank you for posting this. His words are so true....damn rocks...LOL I like the days when they are more like stepping stones :o)
I like where he says "treat it like it's life or death". I know that sounds rather drastic, but I believe it to be true. If I didn't stop gambling when I did I'm very sure that I would be still hating myself right now. I am glad I have taken the right, albeit rough, road because it has led me to self discovery. Like Tagg, I don't think I will ever find the "old" me but I like to think that I am doing the best that I can, for me, now and for the past few months I have remained GF. I have to agree with Tagg also that you can't make everyone happy even though you may feel like it at times, I am only one person and sometimes I need my "me" or "quiet" time to stay focused on my personal needs and goals in order to be of help to others.
Big Hug,
Cathy
Unworthy of happiness and serenity. I am at the place (finally) where I can say...Why not me? Why not all of us?
Perhaps I have gotten off-topic here, but these are just my thought processes. Thank you for a wonderful post! Love to all ~E
