24 days gambling free for me and no way! ... I will not gamble today!
was talking to someone this morning about the "needing" to quit vs the "wanting" to quit
I came to GA and boards w/ a serious need to quit. desperate. destroyed. astonished had how empty my world was and how I had DECIMATED my financial security. I was so confused as to how my hand was involved in this insanity.
I needed to quit. But I sure didn't want to . How could I want to quit the ONE thing in my life that gave me joy, fun, escape, oblivion? Especially when everything else had been SO BLOTTED out of my world by that point. It was just me and gambling. How do I end the one thing.....
Well I HAD TO.
But after NEEDING to and staying clean for 3 months (honestly I HAD NO MONEY EITHER TO GO USE) -- I started to get the wanting to quit into my cells.
I want to stay clean now, because if I cross that line I am literally FLIPPING OFF my higher power -- as if "thanks for the time and knowledge but Im going to go destroy myself AGAIN" -- thumbing my nose at everything given, all the gifts, the blessings, the people who have invested time, and most importantly at the CHANCE for a better future.
Today, I am working to stay in the solution.
