I posted in response to a discussion on February 14th. Valentine's day. I had been so very frustrated with my husband who has been a compulsive gambler for 7 years.
I decided on Valentine's day to ask him to leave. I needed to, for myself and my family. I had to set up boundaries and make my home a calm environment again.
My husband left that night and returned the following day. When he returned to speak the next day I spoke from the heart about what I needed. I couldn't have him gambling anymore. He was very upset and said he didn't know what to do. I suggested self-banning. He was resistant and said "what if I sneak in and get caught, I can't have that happen". I simply said,"well then maybe you are not ready to self exclude". He left and returned with Exclusion paper-he banned himself for life.
He has not gambled since February 14th.

On Feb 12th I told my husband that I wanted to give him a valentines gift. I told him that on the 14th we were going to take a road trip to all the casinos in the area.( By the way he hates the casinos and what it has done to my peace of my and our finances, I had been trying to stop after confessing to the damage, but had not truly stopped yet.. ..
I told him I was going to self ban. He cried.
Actions speak louder then words.
Your husband did a huge thing. He showed love.
leaving my abusive ex bf was easier - but i did it cause i wanted it w/all my being
he will do it for himself when ready...be kind, it sucks...it really does F%%$ suck going thru this.
