Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...

for the insight and the honesty and the help I receive from your posts as well.
as they say we are all different yet the same and in our differences we learn understanding and in our sameness we get empathy.
no where else can we addicts get the kind of support and learning that we get in GA nad DS.
your new avatar shows a very fine example of what you speak about.
the learning from not only our victories but along the journey as well.
that is why I so like to read all the posts and responses here.
I have learned so much from all of you and along with my own recovery efforts I am finding that I am able to stay on the right path.
This is the basics of what GA talks about......the fellowship.
I find so much of it right here and can't imagine recovery without all of you.
It certainly seemed appropriate
Theses are things we don't do in the outside world. That is why it is so precious and important to come here and to my GA meeting and be with people who understand and don't judge. We, here, who are willing to share our trips and our triumphs. I am so grateful to each and every one of you here, we who are on this journey together. Hugs, ~E
dear seraphim,
I so much feel like the gambling was just a complete darkness,
I didn't see it at the time,
but now,
I remember the darkness, the actual darkness of the place,
the darkness of people who were envious of your winning,
asking to borrow money for their darkness and bum a cigarette,
the darkness of the casino trying any ploy to get me to come and
give them what they didn't really earn just about stole and then laugh when I did.
All of the evil and dark personality flaws that we and they show when we are in that venue. In and of itself, it is DARK.
I can see it now
and it literally disgusts me.
That is why when someone new comes on here
I seem to post long and hard for them to see it
before they get as far as I went .
I simply must find a way to get the truth out into this world
of the terribleness of this addiction.
I am not so naive as to NOT understand that this world holds
some harsh truths but this just seems a travesty to me.
God Bless us all with not being in a gambling environment
or being out of control.
God Bless us with being able to understand this addiction and
being able to take the true course of living our life as you would have intended.
