Today, marking my 90 days in recovery, I was sitting at home, in my clean sweet home, I love, and I decided to throw some clothes on, and go an hour away to my sisters house, buy her a ton of groceries, and leave them at her front door. I did just that, I took a small portion of the money I would usually spend at the casino, and I used it to help someone else. My sister had her wallet stolen a couple of days ago, and her income is very small, she is on disability and although we don't always get along, I love her very much. She struggles, financially and emotionally, she is my twin sister.
On my way home from leaving all of those groceries at her front door, I said a little prayer to God, and I thanked him for my 90 days of recovery. I'm so grateful.
My gift to myself is being able to give to others, freely and without compensation, my gift is my recovery.
