So....for weeks, I had plans where a very well liked contractor from the east coast was coming out of his way to come visit my boss and myself on his way to Vegas. Yesterday, he informed me that the employee doing the work was coming as well and that he wanted to show her around Reno. My boss picked the restaurant. Of course, he did "urban spoon" and selected the nicest steak house which happened to be in a casino. I did everything in my power to change our eating place. The contractors didn't care where we went. Ultimately, the restaurant, remained the same. So much to my disliking, I went along. I called one of my GA buddies to gather advice. She was great. Said to call and not take cash and so on. I have not been in a casino since I've been on my journey. Of course my husband was super worried and he was invited to go, but couldn't because he was on call with his job. He actually HATED this bind I was in, but understood that I needed to entertain for my job. I am strong and I can do this. So I drove downtown, parked in a casino garage, walked to their hotel, grabbed them and we walked to the riverfront to a bar for drinks - all is good. We then got the text that rest of our party is at the casino bar and so we walked over to meet them for drinks. Of course, we had to walk all through the casino, upstairs and to the bar. Next to the bar is a whole slot machine area! While we are having drinks, I listen to the slot machines go off - I tune it out and pay attention to the jokes and people around me. Now it is time for our dinner reservation. Yay! We eat, drink and be merry! Dinner is over - we have to walk through two casinos to get back to the parking garage where our cars are - rows and rows of slot machines and people gambling - once again, I tune it out. Then one of the girls yells that she has to use the restroom. Damn! We turn around, go back to the casino to the bathrooms. Back out again through the casino, down the long halls, to the garage - yay, I am out! Made it through the damn f*&king night without gambling! Hallelujah!!!! Another day and I survived! No gambling! Just had to share!
