Hi Casino, When I couldnot make up to your neck-of-the-woods, or to the dog track just south of you, or to any casino, I started buying them thinking it was harmless just a few lottery tickets. Before I knew what happend they would often replace the need to go to the casino. I would spend hours and hundreds of dollars sitting in the parking lot scratching away. So DO NOT start buying them they become justs as addictive as the casino. They are gambling, and they are everywhere! So picture me blocking the lottery tickets from you! LOL! But seriously, please believe me when I tell you they are just as bad as the casino itself. Be strong you are worth it!!!!!!!!!!I will pray triple for you now! :-)

As a person who is addicted to buying lottery tickets, I can tell you it is no different. It actually all started for me, the occasionally ticket and winning some money every now and then was what kept me getting then again and again. I'd not buy them for a long time then get a few and win, then I'd have more money to get more. Several years of that and now I have won and bought more and more. Most people say if they get that big winner they won't buy anymore, well I thought that too. Maybe you won't get addicted to it, maybe you will, the problem is you just never know until it is too late. I realize most people think it's worth a $1.00 or $2.00 for the chance of thousands, but honestly even if you are lucky enough to win big, it's hard to walk away when you do win because then you figure you can win more. So take it from someone who bought a few every now and then a few years ago, please think about it before it grips you and it happens quickly, trust me on that one.

I am beginning to buy lottery tickets. Not the scratch off's. I thought it is a lot cheaper than a trip to the casino. This has been going on for a few weeks. I play the pick numbers drawings and I find myself checking the numbers and it's just as bad as watching that spin for a win. The lottery is as bad as the casino. The best thing is not do it. Gambling is gambling.

Hoever I have a cousin who was a major lottery winner over 20 years ago and I have never stopped thinking, how could that jerk do it and not me?
Besides I do not treat my "former" casino visits the same way as lottery tickets. The casinos provided me with that "instant rush" whereas the lottery tickets take time.

I will bet if you bought a scratch ticket and won a good amount of money one of the first thoughts in your head would be to hit the casino because now you have a bank role and your ego would be big. I agree that gambling is gambling. I still buy scratch tickets myself for $2 and I keep the winners in my desk drawer and then when I have a little stockpile I cash them in but I do not go to the casino. I will stop buying them eventually. I know it is bad but one step at a time. I buy one or two a week if that.

In any addicts world be it gambling drugs, alcohol, sex, food...thats called 'stinkin thinking' and will invariably lead the addict back to his habit.
I would be blessing your family member and forgiveing myself for those thoughts.

Ummmmmm.....there's no lottery in Nevada, I wasn't addicted to buying lottery tickets, but I know it's addictive and a form of gambling. I also know it makes a lot of money for the states that have them. I'm just gonna' say it..."I think lotteries are STUPID, period." Would people buy them if there wasn't a chance at winning something? If it was just a game to generate revenue for the state? Probably not, but many compulsive gamblers would use the grocery money, to get their fix, knowing their kids are gonna' go hungry that night. It's crazy! I suppose if somebody bought an "occasional" lottery ticket, they wouldn't be asking if it was addictive, they would be one of those people we call "noraml" around here. No lottery tickets for me, the states are doing fine without my contributions.

Look at it this way. What are the chances that two people in the same family would win big lottery prizes?

I Googled Gambling and I came across this site.

I am at a very low point right now. I have not gambled since the end of April but, right now, I am still reeling from the affects of my actions.

I wagered on every 'thing I could.. I changed my 'types of gambling 'for a bet because the last 'type of 'betting I was losing ,, So I started a new one.. then it lots it's glow .. I repeated to find .. Every darn''gambling 'venture 'of any kind led me to ''compulsion'/obsession/and debt..
"Heck 'why ?. trying to gamble normally or like Moyer said 'norami.. lol.....
To buy a 'bet' is a 'gamble on a Win.. right.?.so why bother. iffen it's not about the win.. lol.. Put that '$1.00 to old age.. or food bank or some worthy cause..

5. risks, loss, or injury [to the wallet] in the hope of gain or excitement.


Given the defintion, buying an occasional lotto ticket qualifies as gambling.

I know from painful experience... gambling will take you farther than you want to go, and will keep you longer than you intended to stay.

Wanna be free, have fun, have money to pay bills, go places, enjoy life... put the money in the bank and don't take changes with something that 'appears' to be innocent. Lotto is not innocent. It is a a huge ploy. History goes way back. For government now, it is all and only about the billions it bilks from those who play.
