Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Hang tough,
Jay
welcome back, and we look forward to hearing more about your recovery. one day at a time.
I know that for me I just didn't fill my life with the good things,
the real things of life..........along with GA and here and the hinderances,
I truly feel that we must fill our time and start to feel what real living used to be like.
I gamble, speaking for myself, to fill a HUGE void from lack of career and friends and enough family encompasses my life right now,
this site and GA helps most assuredly
but unless I can get my self back on track and
being the outgoing and successful person that I used to be
and that I am accustomed to being
I just know that I will never be able to NOT gamble,
I may not feel like it right now,
since relapsing
but I can't be certain,
and without putting the money hinderances in place,
that I will not once again turn to what makes me forget about
what is missing in my life and to squelch the
feelings of despair from thinking of gambling
once again gamble.
So...........
make the money scarce
and get busy with living.
Make this a good summer and not a dark one
as it will be in going to the c - - - - .
From my most recent experience.............
nothing has changed !!!!!!
Just to let you know that you are not alone. Been there, done that but still, today, and tomorrow, is another day for a GF life.
Its hard but we can do it. One day at a time...
Best,
FD
you REALLY don't have to apologize to me,
take that feeling of regret and compassion and
give it to yourself,
this is addiction,
we really must know that this is darn hard as it is so
hard to get control of,
figure out where you went wrong,
there was some little door that was left open
and shut if for good,
then start again,
and have a wonderful and rewarding gamble free LIFE.
you can do this.
we all can do this.
Welcome back! I slipped after 6 months GF but got back on track. It's hard not to get complacent with it but as the old saying goes...practice makes perfect. As long as we don't stop trying we WILL succeed.
((((BIG HUG)))
