My experinece is that it gets better in time but it is never cured.
I treat it like any other illness and take my meds for it. And for me
my meds are daily check-ins at sites like this.Weekly GA meeting
and I do three online GA tyoe meetings at a site called Gamtalk.
Gamtalk has a 24/7 open chat room posting board like here tons
of info and resouces folks from all over the world supporting each other. The Meetings are on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at
5pm est and usually run for an hour. Yesterday we had our biggest attendance so far 9 members with various clean times and various methods of recovery. So if you are struggling and have time on those days would love to share some recovery time with you folks.

I can relate to the feeling of guilt and remorse in a big way, but it does get better with time. I feel, for me, that it's crucial to try and live in the "now" or power through each day, whatever it takes so you don't dwell on the past.
Dwelling on what "was" is a trap that we can fall into pretty easily- focus on what you have and what you want to become.
