Learning process

Doing the day, in San Diego, and its around 104 degrees today. Each day I find myself learning more about who I am, and I'm not talking about taking the surveys on Facebook :) I am learning to walk through pain, or disappointment, without running to the card room, albeit, it was my soft spot to fall, it dosen't need to be that way anymore.

One day at a time, I am learning, that its okay to live life without beating myself up.

I know what you mean about walking through the pain or disappointment, Leap. Learning again to feel my emotions has been the hardest part of this journey. Gambling allowed me to numb my pain, anger, fear, emptiness, sadness, and every other uncomfortable emotion I wanted to avoid. By feeling my emotions instead of avoiding them I am learning who I truly am, which is definitely not the same person I saw myself as when I was actively gambling. Where I used to see someone weighted down by shame, I now see a person walking tall with confidence and pride. Where I used to see a perpetual liar, I now see a reliable and trustworthy person living authentically. Where I used to see a procrastinator and avoider, I now see someone willing to confront adversity and committed to staying on top of things. Where I used to see someone bereft of a spiritual center, I now see someone grounded in faith and walking with God. At 110 days GF, I feel transformed. I'm still on guard because I know how easily that demon can slide back in, but I am living as a better and healthier person now and am incredibly grateful for that. So Leap, keep feeling those feelings and through that you will discover more about yourself than you ever imagined :)

Reclaiming myself, preserving my dignity, honor and humility. The basic humen principles I've lost by gambling....It still brings tears to my eyes everytime I think bout it.....I am so blessed and greatful for today...

Leap, you are who you are with or without gambling. Keep walking with your head held high and proud. No one is worth more than yourself.
