was on serenity prayer and what it means, i do still have a hard time figuring out what i can vs what i cant change, but w/gods help, i at least have a current understanding that
1) life is better w/o gambling (plainest sentence, but means soooooooooooo much to me)
2) im richer for it - not just in money
3) i must choose my recovery every day - I MUST be selfish and watchful of my other personality - which is another person that lives in me.....and it means business and wants to gamble, it will do whatever it can to convince me "its ok to go"....I remind myself, "its NEVER ok" under any circumstances
4) urges are just thoughts that can be reckoned with and put to rest temporarily
5) this disease is for life and i better be hyper-vigilant on keeping this beast down.
I go to AA also and one night at a meeting we were talking about the prayer and it meanings,
I heard my friend say, when she hears and the wisdom to know the difference, she substitutes the word truth for wisdom, this has made alot of sense to me, I can change the things I agree are the truth about myself, I am back at ga meetings and willing, I am not beating myself up, I am dealing with the truth about needing support, and being so vilgilant too,,, thank you.
