I found a lot of help in a book called Rescuing the Inner Child by Penny Parks that I worked the exercises and discussed it with my counselor for about 3 months.
I am learning to be the loving, kind, nurturing, protective and firm parent to myself that I never had, one day at a time, doing just the next right thing.
