I made 6 weeks!

Today is 6 weeks! 6 weeks ago I was a total mess, bitch, pennyless, insane, unhappy etc....... I thought gambling for the last 15 years was exciting, fun, place to make money, healthy (yeah right), didnt hurt anyone place. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!!! Now 6 weeks clean I look back and know I am powerles over gambling, have no control and that place is NEVER for me again. I can call the booky with a bet because I will never win there either. I will have the same results if I think I can gamble again like a normal person. It's okay it's just my make up and I accept that. I can have one cigarette (eventhough I dont smoke), one drink etc. but I can never have that one bet. I have 6 beautiful children and a best friend called my husband and there is no dollar that can be put on that. The gambling interupted my ability to be a good wife and a good mother, friend, daughter and sister. So I'm giving up with the thought I can gabmle like a normal person because I have tried it at least 100 times with no good result. Feels awesome to quit and accept that. Today I'm a WINNER!

CathyJo, I am beyond thrilled for you! You have been walking the walk and talking the talk, and now you have 6 weeks! You, Vicky, FD and LL2 are such inspiring stories. No one is beyond hope and redemption! The best revenge on this gambling monster is success in keeping away from making that first bet.

Well I have dabbled some since joining the site, but this post today made me realize I need a mantra like this also. Because have never gotten in 'bad' trouble (yet) has been easier to think ocassionally it is okay, but for me it is not. Can make good choices about only taking cash, leave cards at home etc, but eventually end up having quite a bit extra and then don't care what I spend!! Because frugal in every other of my life, always figured I might spend what most women do on clothes, hair, cars etc, and because not a big thing to me I have rationalized for a long time. So... count this as DAY ONE for sunfire, thanks.

I ALWAYS FELT I WAS THE BIGGEST LOSER OUT THERE AS FAR AS GAMBLING SOO MUCH BUT TODAY I FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST WINNER!!! EVEERYONE CAN QUIT ONE DAY AT A TIME IF I DID!!!
