I welcome you to DS and wish for you to find hope here. Hugs, ~atticus
It seems I'm following atticus a bit tonight, but always to second her opinions. GA is a great way to take the pressure off both with or without a pressure relief meeting- each group takes the approach differently, though so I wouldn't expect a night and day type of solution.
The one caution I would offer, and also from the GA program, is beware of anything that is a quick fix, especially this early in your recovery. As atticus said, the one sure thing about fixing your finances is to stop gambling- stopping the drain on your finances has to be the first step. However, much like the allure of a big win to even out the finances any idea that instantly puts money into your pocket is probably not good in the long run since it would likely give you a bad fresh start so to speak. Honest hard work and honesty with your creditors is the best way.

I did that for my debt, and it really helped with paying it off, as I wasn't incurring bloody 21% interest all the time.
Good luck!
My problem was never credit cards, but owing every single loan place locally and online. Our house was also way behind and also everything else. Its taken approx 5 months so far, by having to pay an extra house payment and extra on electric, and just get by on the bare basics until it gets caught back up. For myself, I had to prioritize my debt. Im still struggling so hard and sometimes it feels hopeless, but I know if I stay away from the casinos, it will get better. I also would recomennd creit counseling.
Welcome and Stay Strong
Hugs

When I was paying my debt back I left myself a bare minimum to spend, and now I can see the resentment and self pity you're talking about :(
