Hi I'm writing this because I want it to help someone. Most people write on here bc they have lost lots of $ from gambling. Well when I began I lost what I could afford but nothing too much, never borrowed or stolen. Last few years actually won but it doesn't make me a happier person in life. I hAve been trying to quit for years. The ups and downs that come with this game is unhealthy. I mostly do sports so some weeks win big and others lose big. I made the mistake of betting large and now need to bet large for the rush. I can win 7k a week but mad because I was up 12k on the week and gave some back. People that say that gambling is like a drug is right. But being a compulsive gambler no matter what I win I always want more. If win 2k ok a game want more next game. My relationships and job is better when not gambling. My diet and exercise as well. It affects my sleep negatively. I find myself usually thinking about gambling and what teams to bet during the day. So those out there thinking to make a quick buck it's not worth it. If you win you will want to stick around and want more. I wrote months back some may remember but even with winning I'm not a better person. I know I have been lucky and it won't continue. I was clean about 28 days but the impulse kicked in. Stay away the house always has the edge and in long run probably will give it all back. I was happier not gambling in the 4 weeks I was clean then coming back for 3 weeks gambling with the rollercoaster effect even with walking away with winning $. For me it's a no win situation even with winning more than I lost in 15 years of gambling between sports, casinos, horse tracks, etc. The toll it takes in my diet, sleep, health, relationships, etc. is so not worth it.
