I have not been on this site in several months,during that time Well you guessed it I have been gambling again.I decided around Christmas I would give myself a several thousand dollar gambling trip because I had not gambled in several months and I deserved to go.I told myself I could control myself this time .Those freaking voices in my head never stop.Since then I have been several times a week and I'm back on the roller coaster ride of doom where I lie constantly and it's just exhausting and embarrassing.There is no GA within 2 hours of me.Once again I will STOP I hope it's the last time.

Since you have been to GA and know the process...START YOUR OWN CHAPTER where you are. Best thing you'll find as then others will come to you and you'll see the benefits of helping others who will be helping you...

There are also phone meetings and possibly therapy paid for by state lottery funds depending on where you are. It does not take too much imagination to go to an AA meeting and just think compulsive gambler wherever you see/hear alcoholic. The principles are much the same. You can also call the national problem gambling help line to find out if your state has counseling available. (1-800-522-4700)
So sad to do that "reward" game to ourselves. I have been off cigarettes for nine months now, may I should buy a pack to celebrate. Uh, holy, what? Celebrate with poison? Because I can have just a little bit of poison and walk away.
For me, I would be full on back at cigarettes or gambling and wondering how I would ever get the energy to break out of that addiction hell again. This time try to figure out ahead of time what might be a real reward after "several months", that would not trigger your addiction all over again. Maybe a trip to a mountain cabin or beach or going skydiving, ballooning, or backpacking far from casino lands.

Here you go again, trying to live with our addiction, it can be done, one day at a time. I know it’s hard to start over, maybe that’s because we know it’s not easy. Not at first, anyway. Christmas is a hard time of year for most everyone, because of the stress, I’m sure. We can’t gamble like “normal “ people. Thank goodness we don’t have to gamble to survive! That voice in your head that told you that you deserved a gambling vacation, was your addiction lying to you, conning you, feed me, feed me.... we can’t gamble like social gamblers, we never will be able to.
But we can live fulfilling lives if we just don’t gamble anymore.
Today I will not gamble
