So sad to do that "reward" game to ourselves. I have been off cigarettes for nine months now, may I should buy a pack to celebrate. Uh, holy, what? Celebrate with poison? Because I can have just a little bit of poison and walk away.
For me, I would be full on back at cigarettes or gambling and wondering how I would ever get the energy to break out of that addiction hell again. This time try to figure out ahead of time what might be a real reward after "several months", that would not trigger your addiction all over again. Maybe a trip to a mountain cabin or beach or going skydiving, ballooning, or backpacking far from casino lands.
But we can live fulfilling lives if we just don’t gamble anymore.
