I have just recently discovered i have a gambling problem. I live on a reservation, and have been going out to our local casino and spending anywhere from 5 dollars to 80 dollars a payday. I love to play the slot machines. I can sit for hours and just play and zone the world out. I have tried to quit and to no avail I have not been able to. When someone gives me money I go and I gamble the money away. I have even got a pay day loan to enjoy out at the casino, but my kids took it and wouldn't let me use it out there. They spent it all on themselves. I was so disappointed with them because I went to the casino with only 20 dollars. Of course I came home with no money at all. I didn't pay my bills for this month and last month. But it wasn't at the casino, it was on my children. But my children say I have a problem so I am seeking help for it. Hopefully I will get some support or tips on what to do. thank you

babyrena - welcome. It can be done - stopping the gambling - with tools - like going to GA, finding support like on here, educated yourself on the addiction. You made the first few steps - searching out for help - then reaching out for help here.

Well so far i have busied myself with my children, and also took on some exercising classes and paid my bills so I wouldn't have money to spend out there. But also i am making a savings plan to have just for emergencies. That is all I have done so far. I read up on GA, and see what there is to do other than gamble. What are some other activities people do to keep there mind off of Gambling? Maybe I can get some other ideas.

Hi its Ken there is so much to do out thereout in the world.Before I started day trading I loved doing things outdoors.Health things like running playing sports rollerblading going to the movies concerts etc.The world does not revolve around gambling.I know its exiting and you prbably get a rush from it.I feel that way with trading the adrenaline high is amazing its so easy to get hooked.I did but when you loose and loose big its devestating especially to your self esteem.The bad clearly out weighs the good or exitement.There are so many more fun healthy exiting things to do in this world just look around you and you will see.

well I went out to our casino last night, and i lost. I made my resolution and am starting over at step 1. I realize I do have a problem with gambling and it is an addiction. So thank you again for your support. I am going to call my local counseling center to find a local GA meeting. Thank you.

I went to the casino with 18 dollars, I played until it was all gone, and then i left, it wasn't all the money I had, but it was what I allowed myself to play and wasn't looking for the big win, at least not this time. Usually I go and that's what I want. The big win. I been putting my children first, I been spending more time with them. I put the casino away, and I went to a family shin dig with them, and then I been staying at home and just really watching my finances, and I feel like I can breath again. I just want to thank this support group for helping me. Had I not came here, I probably would still yet be trying to get that big win, or the big spin, because I love to play the slots. Tonight I will be going to Zumba class. Whew that is the funnest class ever. I get quite a work out with that.
I also been reading my bible daily, praying and doing devotions.
Looking at finance books, budgeting books and how to get wealthy books. None of them say, go to the casino.(shucks) but it makes me see that the big spin is most likely not gonna happen.
Most of the time I have gone out to the casino and lost up to $200.00 dollars, and left feeling so defeated. Even if I went out there with $20.00 dollars I would feel that way. I find myself feeling like the gamble isn't worth it anymore. Life isn't all about gambling. I could use my money for something that is more productive and more useful of my time. So again thank you to this support group.
