Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
Prayer is very private to me. I actually have a hard time discussing it with others. What a provocative discussion, way to go chskee! I've always prayed. I believe once you've learned how to pray, you can't forget how to do it. I know that sounds silly, in ways. But to me it makes perfect sense. Like I said, I've always prayed...sometimes on my knees, in the middle of house work, in the shower, in the car. Looking back, I didn't have much respect for the power of prayer, yet still, I prayed. I can't speak for my spouse, he's the silent type, but I do believe he prays, because I know he knows how to do it.
Whew...good post...I mean your's, chskee...lol

to stop and never look back, when I won that money back. I believe Faith helps everything, and God does answer all prayers, but sometimes he says no. I wish my husband would pray about this and maybe he does I really don't know.
This made me pose my question. That day I got on my knees and said Thank You Lord, because I know, God sent me here. I feel like I have gotten stronger each day. I have learned so much. Now, my Husband still hasn't made it on here yet and he hasn't attended the GA meeting that is literally 10 minutes from our home. But, I know that I have to continue doing what I'm doing and I pray that he takes the steps to recover. I know that is all I can do at this point.
I am a Christian. I believe Christ died for my sins, everyones sins. I know this about myself. That I do not have the power alone to control my addiction. I tried on my own and failed everytime. I felt no forgiveness from myself, only condemnation. Once I received Christ into my life and was ready to give my problems to Him, did I find any lasting joy.
I may still trip and fall, yet I ask for forgiveness and pray for His power to let me continue.
So.... yes, I believe it helps.
As many of you know, we are in major financial distress. But somehow we have managed to make all our payments to date and we have paid back some friends my hubby borrowed money from. I feel so blessed and grateful to have the Lord in my life and this site.
You are all a blessing...
And I pray for you.
