Tonight you are feeling the angst of stepping up to the plate, knowing tomorrow, that you will find yourself amongst a group of complete strangers, and having to admit that you have no control over this addiction. There's a part of you inside that says..."WTH am I doing? Suppose some one I know see me going in the door? How embarrassing....how demoralizing? The shame...the guilt...how will I ever live through this?"
Tomorrow, you'll feel all these emotions 10 fold prior to walking through the doors. You'll sit down, you'll be welcomed by the group, and then you'll begin to realize that as you listen to everyone's story, there is a common denominator shared by everyone in the room.
It is that gambling is/was sucking the life out of their hearts, souls and minds....
That's when you realize you are not alone....that's when you realize you are home, with a wonderful group of people that will soon
become up close and personal "family" members, much like you experienced here on this site!
You are worth your weight in gold, my friend. I am so proud of you for doing this for yourself....I only wish I could be there with you, if nothing more than to reassure you that you will never, ever be alone!
We'll be thinking of you and we'll keep you in you prayers!
Be well, stay strong....everything will be ok....just believe in yourself and know that you are making a sound, well thought out choice to enhance your road to recovery.
Love Tagg
I'm actually heading out shortly myself- chairing a meeting at 5:45...
