Keep fighting. Don't give up. Don't go back. What you were doing before, to stay away from gambling, was not enough. Learn from that. Take the initiative to do more.... cut out something that wasn't working. Ask others what works for them. Get some fresh ideas on how to fight this thing. Take Action!

Something that works for me this month - I've decided that an urge is just an urge. It's not going to kill me. It's not going to ruin my life. It's just a feeling. I ignore plenty of feelings and haven't died from that yet. I'm trying to take its power away.

It seems like I'm always having to think up new things to fight this. It is exhausting but I'm worth it. So are you.

CONGRATS on being committed to your recovery. Maybe what they were doing to maintain their soberity was enough, based on what was going on in their life at the time. We can never gather enough tools to combat this disease.

Perception is reality. Taking the power out of urges/triggers is a fantastic tool. With anything or anyone, they are only as powerful as we make them. Work it! GOB Bless.

vegas, i think you misunderstood me. I wasn't looking for congrats, I'm struggling through this every day too. I also wasn't judging anyone on what they are or are not doing. I'm only trying to offer words of encouragement and a pep talk for us all.

Let's do this, let's learn from each other, lets move forward.

It just very hard to go through aftermath, and look real at the loses. even thou i'm not gambling, damage of it getting me hard, really hard! I can't go functionally thru the day, fucking debt, coming loss of a transportation, housing. my family falling appart... No support whatsoever, other what I read on Ds. My 40 older then me husband, who gambled with me all this years blames it on me. i have no energy to live..

my computer broke, i read and type on my smart phone. my husband is very jelous to the attention from me, he gets really irritated when he sees me on the phone.. GA meetings he thinks I just looking for a way to find there someone smarter than him or a way to escape from him, cause he belives I should not be listen to anyone else other then him. Its fucking crazy! I don't know how to pull through all this shit myself and he loads and overloads me with his own depression. I put to much in all of it.... All I feel right now is I am broken in million of little pieces

Vicky, I hear your pain and think you are very close to the core of what makes you gamble. If there's anyway you can speak with a counsellor to get some guidance for making changes in your life, there is happiness there for you in the future. You need to keep moving forward, one step in front of the other. You just need to keep making positive changes in your life. Stopping gambling is only one step in the process but it is the beginning and will give you strength to make other changes that will show you the light ahead. God bless and stay strong.

Hang in there! I know it is tough but pray, pray, pray. Don't give up. God does hear and he DOES answer. I have been where you are. Keep fighting for yourself. The only way to do that is thru prayer.
