Fell hard tonight

I had been doing so good staying away from the casinos up until today. I got the urge decided to go and bam repeat of exactly why I so desperately want to stop gambling. Loss way to much money chasing my losses, dug an even bigger hole, and now I'm doing the shame walk and the "Why!!". I'd been doing so good, was actually catching up on bills, and then bam...one stupid choice and I'm five steps backwards. I'm angry that I slipped and did this with myself. What did I think would happen?? Why do I torture myself and do this. Hate casinos and praying I am able to break this cycle!!! It's the holidays right around the corner, my family needs are more important, and I go and do this!!!!! It's an awful addiction that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!!! Now to try to get some rest, pick up the peices, and wake up tomorrow back at day 1. Please pray I can kick this addiction....Hate who I become in those places. I'm not me and make terrible choices just trying to get even money back. Stupid.....now as I regret it. Here I go again. Praying for all my gamblers in recovery and stuck in this addiction to overcome it and WIN forevermore!!! Tonight I walk in shame :(

Sande , hang in there. Day one today. Do what you have to do. Limit access to money, go to a GA meeting. Stay close to this site. Go to counseling. Whatever it takes. But doing it alone is nearly impossible. I found out that the hard way.

i understand so much of what you are going through, i pray for all of us, its so hard doing it alone, because sad as it may seem, WE CANNOT TRUST ourselves, tell everyone, get a sponser...so sorry, get back up and do it and keep on trying until it sticks, thats all we can hope for...its a sickness, dont beat yourself up about it, bury the dead and move on...

Sande, what you wrote could have been written by me. I have done the same this week. I had started to catch up my bills and stay away from gambling. I pray that I begin to see that I cannot gamble like other people can. I loose all self control when I try to. There are so many other positive things that I could use my time and money for. I agree that gambling is a sickness and there are triggers I hope to be able to recognise. Today is day 1.

it really is a one day at a time process in gambling recovery! we may fall, but we get back up. It reminds me of a toddler learning to walk. They fall a lot, but they get back up, and try again.


that is what we have to do. never, ever give up trying to recover from our gambling addiction. It is possible to stop!
