Tonight, I was leaving my sisters and had to drive right by a major casino in San Diego, billboards all along the way, with arrows, and promises of big wins. I honestly had no desire to go, not a tiny bit. I didn't realize how huge that was until I got home. 34 days ago, I was wouldn't have done that, I would have found time to stop just for a few minutes before coming home, and of course, I know how that would have gone. And, the best part of the day for me was, my daughter telling me she spent 2 hours driving to a ton of bookstores looking for a book I wanted on compulsive behavior, she saw me researching it and wanted to get it for me for mothers day, She then told me that she was so proud of me, that she could tell, this time was different for me, she said that to me, and I almost dropped the phone. I didn't think she noticed, I don't want to bog her down with my therapy, its something I am doing for me, because I want to, but to hear her say that, to me, was one of the brightest moments I've had in a very, very long time. Happy mothers day, to all the moms out there. Its a day, I get to celebrate with my mom, my daughter, my sister, because today, I choose to not gamble, its that simple, and I'm beyond blessed that for whatever reason, this time, I am taking it one day at a time, and I see recovery, its right in front of me, I'm grabbing it with my arms, and I'm on my knees, honestly, thanking God for giving me the strength to walk through this journey. xoxoxox
