I’m not very familiar with betting on Fantasy Sports, but I’m very familiar with an addiction to gambling. I know it sounds silly to say it’s not about the money, especially when some complusive gamblers have lost so much, but it’s how ever much money it takes to stay in action. Usually it begins to take more money to satisfy the ever present urge to gamble, it’s about the risk involved. Then there’s the time wasted on gambling, and how that effects our lives, lying about where we’ve been, lying about money. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I knew gambling was an addiction for me. Thanks for posting here, keep reading and sharing, because that’s what we’re all here for.
Today I will not gamble

I know I don't lose a lot, but if I had the money to lose I would be losing. The challenge for me is when I have won it was when I bet more money than usual.

While each vehicle of gambling from fantasy sports betting to roulette to Black Jack has it's own allure to different people but gambling is gambling is gambling. Your simple statement: "when I have won it was when I bet more money than usual." seems to be one of the things all forms have in common. Another is "magical thinking" , that we have figured out a "system" or are "about to win big" or a "machine is ready" a team should "win because they have lost so much", or that it is "our turn to win big". That magical thinking keeps us thinking like immature children who do not have responsibilities.

I can relate to fantasy sports. I love NBA. I do play it almost daily. I win, I lose. I am down overall. It is fun but very frustrating when the guys you pick fail you. Anyways....it is a waste of money at times. Not sure if I will deposit tonight. I play $16 a day when i take action.
but I only do NBA. My advice is if you are getting to the point that this is robbing you of your joy then ban yourself or put a montly limit that you want to spend. That will help you. You can do a $50 monthly limit. I know fanduel does this. You will feel better if you do take control What satisfies me if I don't play one night is i will look at the ESPN NBA scoreboard just to see how they do. This satisfies my need to bet. losing can be frustrating so I can relate to your post.

This is all good advice. I actually spoke to my wife last night about playing daily fantasy sports and I am starting to take responsibility for playing too often and not paying more attention to her and other interests. I find the amount of time researching lineups, watching NBA news on twitter and other sites can be time consuming. These DFS sites must be 90% addicts on there. These sites also reign you in with bonuses and free play. I need to figure out if I can have a healthy relationship to DFS.

If it is interfering with other parts of your life, like marriage, children, work, other hobbies it is not healthy.

Challenge yourself to go cold turkey and see what happens. It won’t and can’t hurt anything to see if you can stop and how life feels after you do.

I know I just need to get that one night under my belt of not playing. These DFS sites must be creating a whole new generation of addicts.

One night. Just a night where you do other things, or nothing. Turn your computer off for the night. Throw your power at the challenge with force! Plan out the evening step by step, if necessary. It might seem like a silly idea, but now I want to read that you made it through one night without placing a bet, because I know you can do it, you have the power.
Today I will not gamble

I used to be a Floor Manager in a Casino.
I don't and never had a Gambling addiction.
After seeing men and women go to jail due to gambling. Watching people spend their Bill money to the point where they are without gas or electric.
No addiction here. I love Poker and most of all, Horse Racing.
But I rarely bet and I'm a two dollar better when I do.
To me, Gambling is by far the worst addiction there is. Many barely eat at times. Others drink alcohol along with the gambling.
Drug addiction is terrible and world wide. Yet, you can only blow so much money per day on drugs. But if you have a million dollars or ten million dollars to blow. It can be gone in minutes.
Sex/porn addiction, drug/alcohol and food can't compare to the instant loss you can have with gambling.

Tonight was the 1st night that I haven't played online fantasy sports gambling for probably 2-years. It feels good. When I woke up this morning I uninstalled all the gambling apps and unfollowed Rotogrinders on Twitter. My addict mind then told me "well you can play on your computer and not your phone." I resisted that temptation. Honestly the gambling wasn't fun anymore. When my players sucked, not only did I lose money, but I was grumpy all evening. I feel less anxious tonight. I am not worried about NBA scores! Gambling is such a mind F*#k. I liked sports before betting on them, so I hope I can watch them again without wanting to bet. Anyways the support on this site is very good and I appreciate everybody's participation. I will save a lot of money and time and aggravation if I can keep this up.

What I am really excited about is the time I am to put towards other things. My daily gambling habit probably uses 3-4 hours of research and score watching, which now I can use towards other things, like family, reading, or exercise. I feel really good about 2018! Tonight I am to visit my local library and check out a book. I want to start reading some classic novels. The one day without the gambling has me very motivated to continue being free of the gambling. I am also going to spend some time on this website and try to help others help themselves.
